South Africa Allows Entry to Palestinians Initially Denied for Immigration Violations

South African border authorities announced on Friday the entry of 130 Palestinians who arrived in the country on Wednesday from Kenya, after initially being denied entry for failing to meet immigration requirements. The Border Management Authority said that a group of 153 Palestinians on a chartered flight by "Global Airways" landed in Johannesburg, without specifying the duration or location of their stay. "After failing the immigration test and given that none of the travelers expressed any intention to apply for asylum, their entry was initially denied," said Border Management Authority Commissioner Michael Masiabato in a statement. They also did not have the required exit stamps in their passports to show the place from which they boarded the plane. Entry was eventually permitted.
