Armed attackers storm hotel in Pretoria

South African police have announced that armed men stormed a hotel in the capital Pretoria and opened fire, killing 11 people, including a three-year-old child. This attack is the latest in a series of mass shootings in the country, which suffers from crime and has a population of 63 million. Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that 25 people were shot, with 14 being transported to the hospital. Ten people died at the scene in the town of Soshanguve, 18 km west of Pretoria, and another person died in the hospital. Three armed men entered the building around 4:30 a.m. and randomly opened fire on a group of men gathered in the hotel. The attack also killed a 12-year-old and a 16-year-old teenager. Mathe stated: "It's a very tragic incident. The police were only notified of the incident at around 6 a.m." The motives for the shooting have not yet been determined, and no suspects have been arrested.
